2019 Contributors

Baya Clare CSJ lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota. In addition to editing the Online Advent Calendar, she is an artist and spiritual director. Her newest adventure is ministering as chaplain with the volleyball team at St Catherine University.

Ceara Curry Kilpatrick is a ’18-’19 St. Joseph Worker who is currently in the Master of Divinity Program at Boston College School of Theology and Ministry. She holds a graduate assistant position for Multifaith Programming at Boston College Campus Ministry. She graduated from Nazareth College in 2018 with BAs in Music and Religious Studies. Ceara loves to experience God’s love and wonder through playing music, going for long hikes and bike rides, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Suzanne Franck CSJ, PhD, a Sister of St. Joseph of Brentwood, NY for 41 years, is Associate Professor in Religious Studies at St. Joseph’s College, Patchogue and Director of Academic Advisement. S. Suzanne completed her doctoral studies at Fordham University in Contemporary Systematic Theology.  She enjoys time with family, community, traveling, the outdoors and sailing.

Michelle Hueg MLIS, is the Archivist for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and Consociates, St. Paul Province and a new Consociate. She was born and raised in South Minneapolis and moved across the river to Saint Paul in 1987. She has two grown children who continue to show her the great things God does. She volunteers with the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis as a mentor to a student at Minneapolis Community and Technical College.

Cindy Kennedy has been a Consociate of the Sisters of St Joseph of Carondelet, Saint Paul Province since 2004, and served as a United Methodist pastor since 2007. She currently lives near family in Texas where she serves part time as a Presbyterian pastor and searches for her next calling the rest of the time.

Ruth Lopez-Perez graduated from St. Catherine University in 2018 and continues work in ministry with youth and young adults as a parish staff member at Ascension Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon.

Michelle Perri is a 2018 graduate of St Catherine University. She is currently working on a Master’s in Athletic Training at the University of Idaho, and is spending this year in Colorado Springs doing a clinical rotation with the Air Force Academy Athletics Department.

Hanna Potter graduated in 2018 with a BA in psychology from Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota, and then participated in the Saint Joseph Worker Program in 2019-19. She is now working at Catholic Charities in the Twin Cities. She dreams of having her own cat some day.

Theresa Ruttger’s photographs appear on each day’s reflection in this year’s Online Advent Calendar. They were taken on her 2017 Camino de Santiago in Spain. Theresa is a pilgrim at heart. She is a Consociate of the Saint Sisters of St Joseph of Carondelet and Consociates, Saint Paul Province, and she works in parish ministry.

Cindy Saufferer lives on the family farm in southern Minnesota with her husband of 40 years. She currently serves on the board of United Methodist Women turning faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, children and youth.

Dana Schiewe is a Saint Joseph Worker alum and a part-time thinker who lives in Illinois. When not shaking their puny fists at God, they enjoy playing the pennywhistle and looking at cats.

Erika Zabinski lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, working as a database administrator by day and an editor by night and a theater enthusiast at all times in between.
