It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in princes.
Psalm 118: 8-9

I recently took my niece to college and we were sitting at the table in the hotel. She was tearing up as it hit her that she was really leaving home, friends and familiar places. She had confided in us that she was worried she would not make any new friends and that she would not fit in. Normal feelings for any of us in a new place and a new experience. A woman approached us and said she couldn’t help but notice my niece’s tears and shared her story of taking her son to college a few years before. She assured my niece that, as long as she held God as her foundation, she would meet the right people and find the right place for herself. There are amazing people in this world – some we meet once and some we know for a lifetime but, for me, the point of the scripture is to keep our hearts and minds centered on God as we build relationships with people so that those relationships are healthy and whole. As we await the new birth of Christ, we hold onto that hope. That with God at our center, we are never alone.

Prayer
God, be Heart and Center for us today. Amen.

Es mejor refugiarse en el SEÑOR
que confiar en el hombre.
Es mejor refugiarse en el SEÑOR
que confiar en los príncipes.
Salmo 118: 8-9
